Originally trained as a Chartered Accountant, Michael Botner now devotes his time and energy to his business, Accounting for Taste, a company dedicated to de-mystifying wine and sharing the enjoyment and benefits of moderate wine use.

Michael Botner is a wine columnist and freelance writer for several magazines and other publications, both nationally and in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia.

Michael’s credentials are many. He is the developer and former instructor for the Sommellier Programme at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Co-Founder and Governor Emeritus of the National Capital Sommelier Guild, and was named “Wine Person of the Year” by the Guild.

He has taught wine courses and seminars to several select groups, and has been a guest on various television and radio programmes.

Michael Botner also offers advisory and training services for the hospitality industry. For over 20 years, he has organized and chaired Cellars of the World, the Ottawa International Wine Competition for the Ottawa Wine & Food Show before moving to the Kelowna area of British Columbia.
